Empowering, educating and supporting your unique end-of-life journey

Welcome.

Hi, I’m Debra. My guess is that you’re here because you want to learn more about end-of-life planning, end-of-life transitional care, or how hiring a doula might support an end-of-life journey.

At Soulfull Departures, we focus on supporting you and your circle of care with a compassionate & holistic approach.

We know that each end-of-life journey comes with its own unique circumstances, knowledge and beliefs. Soulfull Departures offers a wide range of non-medical services to educate, empower, and support each end-of-life transition.

It is overwhelming to hear that your medical treatment is no longer geared toward saving your life. In these moments, we often no longer know what to ask, think, or do. This is the exact moment that your individuality comes into play. Dying shouldn’t be about just sitting there waiting for death to arrive. Even with a life-limiting diagnosis, you are still living until the moment you aren’t.

What is important in these moments is to find meaning in your time left and find a way to focus on what matters most to you.

An End-of-Life Doula’s role as a part of your circle of care is one of empowerment, advocacy, education and support. We are here to guide you and your loved ones on what you can expect during the dying process, plan how you’d like to be cared for as a person ((i.e.) what dignity-preserving support you would appreciate and/or accept) throughout your transition, and articulate your legacy. We help you by encouraging you to think about, document, and talk about your hopes, wishes and legacy so that you and your loved ones may have peace in knowing that your wishes were honoured.

In-person and remote options

I live in and serve the Sunshine Coast community in British Columbia. I am available remotely, for those living in other regions.

For thousands of years, the shíshálh and Sḵwx̱wú7mesh people have stewarded this land, their own (unceded) traditional territory. Soulfull Departures acknowledges and honours the ancestral guardians of the lands and waterways and commits to living & working respectfully and responsibly on these lands and waters.
